We came to the property on Friday to make sure everything was ready for the guests and to help "D" the property manager with all the details. We mowed, watered, put more merch out, finished up the outhouse lounge, and put out invitations for our cookout for our guests. D picked up the groceries on her way back from her part time job and Brian added a night light to the basketball area. All the wildflower seeds I planted into the flower beds are coming up and I was excited! We were interested in the Eclipse but wanted our guests to have the best experience just being here. The first check in was on Saturday before the Eclipse and we were ready! After the first check in it was like the best episode of Below Deck in a good way. We made sure the fire was lit, we brought out the cushions for the outdoor areas, the outhouse lounge was on, we had fishing poles out, and were available if needed. It felt great and not like work at all. We had all cabins booked and from all areas of the world, but it was as if we were all meant to be there for the experience together. The day of the eclipse everyone got together by the lake and the sky was crystal clear. We cooked hamburgers and hotdogs with all the fixings, the kids played in the creek, they shot their bow and arrows at the target and even adults got involved. We played music and as the time came, we all put our glasses on and watched in amazement as the sun slowly was shadowed by the moon. I had seen that part before but never what we were all in store for! One couple had brought a telescope, and you could see every bump and colors. Guests were visiting, taking pics, helping each other by taking pics of different groups. Right when the last sliver of sun was showing the day turned an eerie green and it felt as if my eyes were not seeing right. Someone said it's happening right now and all of a sudden there was black with an amazing thin white line visible without glasses! We were in the dark with this thin glow looking up at the sun in the afternoon! We were all taken away by the glory of what we witnessed. I felt so blessed to have seen the miraculous total eclipse and couldn't help but think how ancestors before us not knowing what was happening must have imagined. It rates as a top for me. Our guests all had wonderful times and even took the time to give us thank you letters and a 5-star review!
