2025 is peeking over the couch I am slouched in, and I don't know if I am ready. The last couple of months have been such a blur between traveling to Arkansas, working full time, a son getting married, two new pregnancies, Thanksgiving preparations and then in the blink of an eye.........Christmas. On top of all that I had to terminate an employee who was also a friend, which I can assure you is not easy. I do appreciate how they helped us begin this journey, but in the end our visions and motivation were not the same. Right now, I feel as though my brain and body has forsaken me. I was at a friend's Christmas party a couple of days ago and yawned more than I talked. Brian took vacation and went to Arkansas on the 26th. He has quite the list of tasks to do before our new property managers arrive. I normally would have gone up there and took a couple of extra days off while getting the New Years Day off anyway at work. But I did not take off. I decided I would stay here in Texas. I put my trust in him to do a fantastic job. He will complete everything and hopefully have fun in the meantime. He loves The Ridge ever so slightly above me even. Before I go into the New Year I need to unwind. Slow down. Work on the task of giving myself some rest. I am not a spring chicken anymore. I have four days until 2025 and I am going to be prepared for the new beginnings.
Get ready for our new property managers Rick and Linda Mayfield. They are a very interesting couple with some great life experiences. They love the outdoors and nature. They love spending time with their two furry friends and love to be busy. They are retired and coming from Texas but have traveled all over. We will be relieving them from time to time on our time off while they travel and rv for fun! I think this set up will be a great fit for our guests. I believe they will take a tremendous pride in the property and relive us of some added work.
I have started purchasing venue chairs and tables to be able to have an awesome event in 2025. I am hoping to have most items needed right there at the property for reunions, bachelor parties, weddings, and retreats. I would love to have an open house and invite the towns to come check out the property.
We reached our goal of a hot tub in cabin#1 and 2025 should bring another one-this time to cabin#3. We haven't figured out quite how it is going to work with cabin#1 yet.
I am actually going to start doing some home improvements on my Texas property. It is changes that I have wanted but neglected to do it after we found the ridge. I am also going to start my car project that has been dormant for too long.
We all have our moments where we find ourselves tired. In those times you would be surprised at how a little time alone and at your own pace stimulates the mind to keep churning towards a fresh journey of new hopes and successes. 2025, wait just a little longer until I can catch my breath!
