Celebrating One year since The Ridge's Creation

Updated: Oct 16, 2024

As we were driving into Arkansas Friday Brian mentioned it was about this time last year when we came up here looking for some property. Of course, I had to go back and look on my phone and in fact July 29 was the first pics I took of this seemingly abandoned but gorgeous property. In one years', time-well actually we did not close on the property until September 11-we have created a destination for guests to enjoy. I read all guests comments in the guest books and the common word I find in the book is: peaceful and relaxing. My best friend Deanna needed a change back in November and volunteered to move up to The Ridge to take care of the property. She has been a Godsend. It did not come without its ups and downs and trying to navigate friendship vs business in our lives, but I believe she is truly happy now and the guests are loving her. We turned an old bunkhouse full of fleas and creepy vibes into an Outhouse lounge that guests are asked to do their own artwork on-and it's so cool looking! We have worked so hard getting this place in shape with new decor, fixing the issues with water, electricity, gas, appliances, and the list goes on that it is really hard to just sit back and be in the peaceful environment. When we got in Friday afternoon, we decided to just make a drink and sit on the back porch of cabin#2 and watch the river go by. It was soooo nice. We put our bathing suits on and grabbed the party speaker each cabin has and swam in the pool and listened to some music and hung out with Deanna aka Dee from what guests call her. Of course we looked around at all the new paint, changed light fixtures, and all the upgrades with pride as we knew what all went into getting this place here. We toasted to the year and of course the next three days I weed eated, trimmed, mowed, burned, made lists, placed new decor, and watered. Brian hung lights at the barn, hung my new decor, made lists, mowed, weed eated, fixed electrical issues by the pool, put up new lights at the pool and we discussed all the new things we need to do that has not been done. I cant imagine in another years time what this place wil become.
